The pattern will work well with any other yarn for a blue sunset, a green sunset, a rainbow sunset or any color you can imagine!
Sólarlag cowl is worked flat as a long rectangular piece with Mosaic knitting, then the ends are grafted together to form a loop. Stitches are picked up on both edges and the borders worked in the round, then folded in two and sewn down.
Size: one size.
- Circumference: 88cm / 34¾“.
- Depth: 28.5 cm / 11¼“
Gauge; 10 cm / 4” = 22 sts and 40 rows in garter st on 4 mm / US6 needle. Check your gauge and if necessary, change needle size to obtain the correct gauge.
Yarn: lace or light fingering

- MC: approx. 225 m / 246 yds
- CC (without the pompom): approx: 180 m / 187 yds
Wool used in sample
- MC: Þingborg Einband: new wool, 100% high quality Icelandic wool (mostly lambswool), light fingering weight, 1 ply, 50-55 g skein = 250 m / 273 yds, natural white
- CC: Einband from Ístex, new wool, lace/light fingering weight, 1 ply, 50 g skein 250 m / 273 yds, hand-dyed in Iceland with acid dyes by María from Hófsvík.
Needle: 4 mm / US 6 cicular needle and double-pointed needles (for the I-cord) or size to obtain the gauge.
4 mm / US G-6 crochet for provisional CO.
Notions: darning needle, stitch marker, safety pin, pompom maker or alike.
