Knitting on ice, October 8 –14, 2024

ISK289.000

Knitting on Ice highlights: South Iceland, glacier walk, hot springs, Northern lights, lopi sweater

Departure: 2024, October 8-14

The Knitting on Ice tour is a magical combination of Icelandic knitting, enigmatic nature and delicate autumn colors. It takes us on a glacier walk at Sólheimajökull Glacier, which gives us the opportunity to knit on the ice! Away from the city lights, we will hopefully spot the magical Northern lights and one of the most expansive views of Iceland. We will also hike in the Smokey Valley made of hot springs and sulfates and dip ourselves in a hot geothermal river. All the way, Hélène will give us an insight into the knitting traditions of Iceland with focus on a very useful item at this time of year: the Icelandic lopi yoke sweater – lopapeysa – and we’ll learn new and old techniques. Accommodation is in a picturesque country guesthouse with a grassroof, a sauna and many sheep. Possibility to go horse riding on the premises (not included in price).
